Purpose & Goals

Purpose
The purpose of this website is to serve as a showcase of technology integration throughout the curriculum in grades K-8 at the John D. Runkle School in Brookline, Massachusetts. This site also includes resources for students across the curriculum.

Goals of Our Program
The Public Schools of Brookline Educational Technology Program presents technology as a resource to access, reinforce, and extend content-area lessons; as students use computers within language arts, math, science, social studies, etc., they also develop valuable technological skills. These skills permit students to think, research and present in an enriched and more powerful way; one that is similar to what they will encounter in the real world.

A primary goal of K-8 Instructional Technology is to ensure that technology literacy skills that students learn are embedded in their curriculum. In this world of emerging technologies, it is imperative that students learn these skills in order to succeed as 21st century learners. Through Instructional Technology, students will learn the 4 C's to help them succeed as lifelong learners:
  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Creativity
  • Critical Thinking
